Both my Great Grandfather Ivory Scott And His Wife Dicey Relocated to Los Angeles

After learning that my Great Grandfather Ivory Scott died on January 11, 1969 in Los Angeles, California and that he was a widower at the time,  I checked to find information about his longtime second wife Dicey Wilson.   I wanted to see if Great Grandpa Ivory moved to Los Angeles from Thibodaux, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana with her. h ttps://diversegenes.blogspot.com/2023/09/death-certificate-of-my-patrilineal.html I found a 1958 Los Angeles, California voter registration record of Great Grandpa Ivory and Dicey registered as Democrats and living at 3639 Adair Street. Some time between the time of the 1950 Census and the time of the 1958 voter registration, they relocated to Los Angeles from Thibodaux. Death Certificate of My Patrilineal Great Grandfather Ivory Scott and his relocation to Los Angeles

I just received the death certificate of Ivry Scott whose Jan 11, 1969 Los Angeles, California death record that I found at ancestry.com.  I suspected that it was my Great Grandfather Ivory Scott's because of Louisiana being birthplace and Lilly as mother's maiden name.   It's definitely that of my Great Grandfather Ivory Scott. His daughter Florence Dawson is the informant on his death certificate, and she is also the informant on my father Lawrence Nolan Scott's August 15, 1993 death certificate which showed that he died of Dilated Cardiomyopathy with significant conditions contributing to death that include fatty liver, Nortripyline effect, and probably hyperthermia.  Aunt Florence's Los Angeles addresses on Great Grandpa Ivory's death certificate and my father's certificate are the same.  I used Florence's information on my father's death certificate to find out who was the father of my paternal grandfather Nolan Scott. I had recently found out ...

Death Certificate of My Barrow 2nd Great Granduncle and 3rd Great Grandma Laura's Maiden Name

This blog post is about a Barrow 2nd Great Granduncle of mine.   My cousin Linda was the one that told me that my paternal 2nd Great Grandfather James Cross had maternal half siblings and that they were Edmond Barrow, Wallace Barrow, Melvina Barrow Green, and Charles Valentine Barrow.   I later learned that they were the children of Bonnie Barrow (originally Chas Boney) and Laura who were African American slaves in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana and relocated to St. Mary Parish, Louisiana.  Linda is a granddaughter of my paternal grandmother's mother Priscilla Cross Gaines' older sister Laura Cross Bates. Therefore, she and I are 2nd Cousins, Once Removed.  She and I first connected as AncestryDNA matches. I got information of who I believe who was Edmond Barrow who was originally Edmond Boney. He was the oldest of Bonnie Barrow and Laura's children.  He was older than 2nd Great Grandpa James.   Census Record 1910 Police Jury Ward 6, St Mary Par...

This is blog post is about my ancestral families in the Carolinas.  The  Carolinas  are the U.S. states of  North Carolina  and  South Carolina , considered collectively. They are bordered by  Virginia  to the north,  Tennessee  to the west, and  Georgia  to the southwest. The  Atlantic Ocean  is to the east. Combining North Carolina's population of 10,439,388 and South Carolina's of 5,118,425, the Carolinas have a collective population of 15,557,813 as of 2020. If the Carolinas were a single state of the United States, it would be the  fifth-most populous state , behind  California ,  Texas ,  Florida , and  New York . The Carolinas were known as the  Province of Carolina  during America's early  colonial  period, from 1663 to 1712. Prior to that, the land was considered part of the  Colony and Dominion of Virginia , from 1609 to 1663. The province, was named...
