I have been looking for information about the family of my paternal 2nd Great Grandfather William Scott who was originally William Daigre. Less than half a year ago, I found out my patrilineal Scott side was originally Daigre in Baton Rouge. I recently found out that Ivory Scott was my paternal grandfather Nolan Scott's father and that his father was William Daigre who was born in 1865 in Baton Rouge. Some time between 1900 and 1910, 2nd Great Grandpa William changed the last name to Scott. 1900 Census showed 2nd Great Grandpa William, 2nd Great Grandma Maria, Great Grandaunt Pinkey, Great Granduncle Matthews, and Great Grandpa Ivory had the last name Daigre which was written in cursive as Dagar and transcribed as Kagen. 1910 Census showed that my 1 year old paternal grandfather Nolan had the last name Scott and was living with his mother Carrie Johnson who was a single mother living with her mother and siblings.
